Have you ever said yes to everything for an entire day? Does the thought of this freak you out as much as it does me? If the answer is “yes” then you should try it.

Michael Singer wrote one of my favorite books titled “The Surrender Experiment,” in which he tells how he went from being a reclusive hippy in the woods to becoming a software millionaire. This random path from A to B happened because he agreed to say yes to the force that guides our lives and then actually did it.

I struggle with this and fail at it daily. Often miserably. Fears and preferences cloud my view so that all I can see are the reasons why I shouldn’t say yes. When I am able to do it, I’m always so happy that I did. For example, I met my husband because a friend of mine badgered me in to signing up for a dating website, and after being worn down, I said “yes.” The rest is history. I originally turned down an offer for one of the most fun jobs I ever had. The department head wouldn’t take no for an answer, so against my better judgment I said “yes,” and it turned out to be one of the best learning experiences I’ve ever had. The list goes on.

Today, wave the white flag of your life and surrender to whatever comes your way by saying YES. Something wonderful could happen!
